The Southwell Churches Together Christian Aid Committee is delighted to report that the virtual Camino de Santiago de Compostela, in which 23 ‘pilgrims’ took part during the ‘Season of Creation’ from September to early October, raised £3,290.21 in sponsorship for the charity. In addition, Halam Church generously donated its Harvest Thanksgiving collection of £229.41.
The final total for the event is £3,519, which will all go to Christian Aid for its work with partner agencies in some of the poorest parts of the world.
In total the pilgrims travelled 2,211 miles – walking, running and by wheelchair – including Joyce Mullis, who sadly died just before the end of the pilgrimage and to whom we dedicate this wonderful result.
Well done to everyone who participated and many thanks to all who supported and sponsored them.
