The Friends of Southwell Cathedral proudly presents…
A talk by the Director of Naumburg Cathedral, Germany
Saturday 15 June, 11am in the Nave
One of the highlights of the annual Friends’ Festival is the morning lecture. This is free, open to all, and promises to be particularly special this year, with the guest speaker coming from abroad. Herr Holger Kunde will be talking on the 13th century foliate capitals of circa 1250 found at Naumburg Cathedral that have such striking similarity to those in our Chapter House, which dates to 1287. The thinking is that the Master Mason responsible for our capitals may have learnt his trade at Naumburg – remarkable for an era when communication and travel were so limited!

Do come along.
