New Lay members of Southwell Cathedral Chapter …could it be you?

Three vacancies exist for new lay members of Chapter to take up the role from May 2021. This is for an initial period of three years at a critical time of change and missional opportunity post pandemic and following the completion of the Leaves project. Chapter is expanding the Cathedral’s strategic vision to be ‘a living well of spiritual refreshment and worship, following Jesus Chris, caring for God’s creation and celebrating a rich heritage’.

The Bishop and Dean are seeking to appoint individuals who will bring a passionate commitment to growing disciples as the Cathedral church of the Diocese. The Chapter is the governing body and acts in a similar way to a Board of Trustees. It directs the Cathedral’s worship and mission and oversees the administrative affairs of the Cathedral.
We will have vacancies for individuals with skills and experience in finance, property and commercial management, marketing, and legal matters. Non-executive members offer their time as volunteers, but expenses are covered.

Over a year the Chapter holds eight meetings (currently during office hours but this is flexible depending on members’ working commitments) and meets informally for two vision and planning days.

We welcome interest from across the diocese in all its diversity in age, gender, ethnicity and breadth of Christian tradition. If you would like an informal conversation and further information, please contact Dean Nicola E: or the Chair of the Nominations Committee, Jan Richardson E:
