On the eve of Holocaust Memorial Day 2021, we reflect on the life of Nikolaus Pevsner, author of The Leaves of Southwell, the context of his Jewish heritage and the family he left behind In Nazi Germany.

About Dr Helen Bates
Helen is the Community Engagement Coordinator for the Leaves of Southwell project at Southwell Minster. Her background is in community heritage and heritage education. Her role at Southwell Minster is to widen participation in the Leaves project and to develop partnerships and placements with heritage organisations and education providers. In 2020, she organised an event at the Minster to mark Holocaust Memorial Day by looking at the lived experience of Nikolaus Pevsner, author of The Leaves of Southwell, and the impact of the Holocaust on his family.
