Ready, Steady Race against Hunger 5k! with Southwell Minster

What are you doing on Saturday 27 March? Why not join thousands of others all over the country in combining your daily exercise with raising some money to help end poverty and destitution in the UK. The Trussell Trust is organising the Race Against Hunger 5K across the UK to work towards making poverty history.

This year the Trussell Trust will be Southwell Minster’s Lenten Focus on Giving.

The Trussell Trust runs the largest network of food banks in the UK, giving emergency food and support to people in crisis. The Newark Foodbank is one of the 428 food banks making up the national network. Fourteen million people live below the poverty line and in the last year 1.9 million three-day emergency food supplies were distributed to people in crisis.

This isn’t right. As the impact of Covid-19 continues to be felt across the UK, now is the time to act and call for change. Everyone should be able to afford the essentials and put food on the table. With our support, there is a real opportunity to build a hunger free future.

The Race Against Hunger 5k is more than just a run. It’s a movement for change. Whether you’re an experienced runner or a novice, it doesn’t matter. Make it your race. The challenge can be completed in your own time and at your own pace. You can walk, jog or run or do it in fancy dress – take on the challenge in a way that works for you. Get your friends and family to sponsor you or sponsor yourself! Then donate online at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/raceagainsthungersouthwellminster

All donations received through the online justgiving page will go directly to the Trussell Trust. Please comply with the latest government guidelines on your challenge, including social distancing. Latest guidance can be found at gov.uk/coronavirus.
