We are delighted to announce, that after an absence of 180 days, sung services will resume in Southwell Minster on Sunday 13 September.
The Lay Clerks will sing for Eucharist and Evensong, and from Saturday 19 September will add in Saturday Evensongs as part of a gradual return to singing. Among the first things to be sung will be William Byrd’s stunning Mass for Three Voices.
The Cathedral Choristers will begin rehearsals once again very soon, and will begin singing in services after the October half-term break.
Paul Provost, Rector Chori, says “I am so thrilled that we will be returning to sung worship, and I know my team of choristers, lay clerks, organists, and chorister supervisors are keen to be working together once more. It has been a very difficult few months, especially not being able to make music together, and we hope we can be a part of people’s recovery from these challenging times”.
