Prayer and Meditation
This traditionally has been a group which gathers on Mondays in term time, at 7.30pm. Some then stay on for refreshments. We are led into our half-hour of silent prayer with a brief, personal reflection. This draws on Christian writing and thought, whether it be from the Bible, spiritual classics, or contemporary writers and personal thought. The time of silence – which lasts for 30 minutes – is brought to an end with prayer at around 8.10 pm. All are welcome, whether you are exploring this ancient way of Christian prayer for the first time, or it’s been your way of prayer for years.
With lockdown, Stilling Prayer moved on line and the membership has grown significantly. We receive an email with the reflection to guide our d time of quiet. By praying whenever possible at the same time of 7.30pm on a Monday, we are praying in our own homes yet with a sense of coming together to pray; just in virtual space.
All are welcome, whether you are exploring this ancient way of Christian prayer for the first time, or it’s been your way of prayer for years. Plead contact Stephen Ibbotson on 07972 083369 or send an email to Stephen at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to join this online group.
Samples of previous reflections can be seen below.
