Join us for a celebration of the rich musical life of Southwell Minster! This year’s Music Foundation Summer Concert brings together the Minster’s choirs and the acclaimed Thoresby Colliery Band. At its heart is a new arrangement of Vaughan Williams’s Five Mystical Songs for choir and brass band, combining the composer’s radiant melodies with the warmth and power of the brass band tradition.
The rest of the programme showcases the richness and versatility of both ensembles, from moments of intimate reflection to passages of thrilling sonority and grandeur. The Minster choirs will perform William Walton’s thrilling Coronation Te Deum and Benjamin Britten’s festive cantata Rejoice in the Lamb, and Thoresby Colliery Band will perform some of their own virtuosic favourites from the brass band repertoire.
