We can begin to see our lovely Chapter House being restored to its former glory, but with some new 21st Century luxuries, all designed to improve conservation, access and visitor experience. Over the last couple of weeks, Richard and the team have replaced all the stone floor slabs in the main Chapter House, connected the maze of underfloor heating pipes, positioned the base for the lift (more about that in future updates), and experimented with a mirror, designed to enable visitors to better see the wonderful rib vaulting and roof bosses. Did you know – it’s the largest stone vaulted Chapter House without a central supporting pillar in the country!
