The Leaves of Southwell project gives us funding to reach out to the community with a programme of learning and activities thanks to a generous grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. This week saw the online launch (pictured below) of a special art project with the King’s C of E Academy, Newark. Local artist Michelle Reader will lead Year 4 in the creation of an ‘Art from Waste’ installation for the Palace Gardens to be on display over summer 2021. She works with recycled materials – exciting for a school already campaigning against single use plastics and passionate about the environment (pictured is their poppy display made from waste plastic bottles), as is the Cathedral, a holder of an A Rocha Eco Church Bronze award.
