Earlier this month, the Dean addressed members of the congregation at the Dean’s Forum. He outlined the significant challenges facing Southwell Minster and the steps being taken to secure its future. The Minster is facing a very serious financial situation, with an estate repair deficit of over £20 million and an urgent need to stabilise its finances. Work is underway to improve financial management, seek external funding and achieve a balanced budget within three years. Alongside these challenges, the Dean shared Chapter’s newly adopted Vision and Strategy, focusing on five key areas: People, Place, Praise, Protection and Partnership. Despite the difficulties ahead, there is a clear commitment to greater transparency, rebuilding trust, and working together to secure a sustainable future for the Minster.
