In 2022 Guy Turner, local musician and former member of the Cathedral Choir at Southwell Minster, set off to walk from Land’s End to John O’Groats, solo.

Unfortunately, his journey was cut short by a foot injury after 31 days.

Since then, he has been continuing the walk is stages, and has covered about 980 miles as far as Fort William in Scotland.

Now he is walking the final stage, along the Great Glen to Inverness and then up the East coast to John O’Groats, where he should arrive on April 9th. Another 230 miles. It will have taken 76 walking days.

On the original trip he raised over £18,000 shared between his four chosen charities: Framework, Young Sounds UK (formerly ‘Awards for Young Musicians’), Southwell Minster (for its ECO projects) and Bingham Choral Society (Guy was their conductor when he started the walk).

He now hopes to raise a little more sponsorship when he completes the journey.

Guy says: ‘I have really enjoyed the experience – apart from the foot injury, of course. I am delighted with the generous support of sponsors, and amazed by the amount raised. It will be quite something to arrive in John O’Groats and finally complete the project.’
