It has been an exciting time in our lovely Chapter House over the last 9 months! Careful installation of some 21st century additions (lights, underfloor heating, power and wifi capability), along with cleaning and conservation work has meant the taking up of the floor, the covering of the precious carvings for protection, installation (temporarily) of a huge scaffolding tower and hours of painstaking labour. This week the wraps were taken off as works are nearly complete! Over the coming weeks we will see the installation of the mirror and the completion of the slype (passageway). Meanwhile, we share some photos of rarely seen high level carvings taken last week.
