We are delighted to announce our new series of free Cathedral Lectures for 2025, this year with a special Robin Hood theme.
Why is Robin Hood the most famous person in Nottinghamshire? What is the appeal of his story? Did he ever exist? Can he tell us anything about how we should relate to the natural world?
Join us as we explore these questions in the medieval setting of the State Chamber of the Archbishop’s Palace at Southwell Minster at 4.45pm (note 5pm on 8 June) to hear diverse viewpoints on these questions. Refreshments are served from 4.30pm (note 4.45pm on 8 June) and the evening will finish by 6pm. Please click below for further details on each talk:
4 May – David Crook: Nottinghamshire and the Robin Hood legend
25 May – Neil Cartlidge: Robin Hood of the Ballads and May Games
