As Southwell Minster gears up for Christmas this year, we would like to make you aware of the addition of two new services to our regular schedule.

On most second Sundays of each month (not April 2023), starting on 11 December 2022, the 10.00am Cathedral Eucharist will be a shorter, less formal service of Holy Communion designed to be the perfect introduction for those who are new to church, or perhaps returning after time away.

Then, at 11.15am, there will be a Sung Eucharist using the traditional words of the Book of Common Prayer, featuring the Minster’s famous Cathedral Choir and with full ceremonial including incense, in a service unique in Nottinghamshire.

Canon Precentor Richard Frith said, ‘At the Minster we are here to serve our community and to worship God in different ways, using our minds, our hearts, our voices, and all our senses. We’re looking forward to welcoming people from across the town and beyond for these new monthly services.’

On other Sundays of the month, the current pattern will continue, with the Cathedral Choir singing at the 10.00am Cathedral Eucharist. There will also continue to be a quiet, early service of Holy Communion at 8.00am, and Evensong, also featuring the Choir, at 3.30pm.

Everyone is always welcome at all Minster services.
