Friday Lunchtime Concert: Matthew Spillett (tenor)

Tenor and Southwell Minster Lay Clerk Matthew Spillett will perform a lunchtime recital of English and French song, accompanied by the Rector Chori, Paul Provost. The recital will highlight the themes, common to composers on both sides of the English Channel, of love, infatuation and loss, featuring works by Stanford, Hahn, Poulenc, and Gerald Finzi’s posthumously published cycle of Thomas Hardy songs, Till earth outwears.

Admission to this concert, which lasts approximately 45 minutes, is FREE. There will be a retiring collection, the proceeds of which help to fund the Minster’s Organ Scholarship. Please pick up a free programme upon your arrival. The concert will be preceded by tea, coffee and biscuits – available from 1pm onwards.
