The 2023 series of Friday Lunchtime at the Cathedral kicks off with a special recital on Friday 3 February at 1.30pm. Emily Gray (Mezzo-Soprano) and Nicole Johnson (Piano), professional performers from London, will be presenting a recital of the beautiful melodic songs of Eric Thiman and Michael Head (both born 1900). The Minster houses the archive of the composer Eric Thiman, and Emily and Nicole have recently launched a new CD of his songs, together with those of Michael Head. We are delighted that they are coming to Southwell to give what is in effect the Southwell launch of the CD.
Admission to this concert, which lasts approximately 45 minutes, is FREE. There will be a retiring collection, the proceeds of which help to fund the Minster’s Organ Scholarship. Please pick up a free programme upon your arrival. The concert will be preceded by tea, coffee and biscuits – available from 1pm onwards.
