Part of a series of events happening under The Moon at Southwell Minster this October.
No props, microphones or gimmicks, just five stunning voices form Papagena, an a cappella group set up to explore the wealth of music from medieval times to the present day written specifically for female voices.
The group’s programming defies pigeonholing, juggling folk, medieval, classical and contemporary works with new commissions and the group’s own compositions and arrangements.
Papagena has performed at numerous festivals including Edinburgh and the Three Choirs, for BBC Radio 3 and 4, Scala Radio and Classic FM, has recorded 3 CDs including Hush! and its chart-topping Christmas album The Darkest Midnight, and enjoys a fruitful collaboration with the Orchestra of the Swan.
