SOLD OUT – The Winter’s Tale (by The Nottingham Shakespeare Company)

Please note this event has sold out and tickets will not be available on the door.

Saturday 4 February, 7pm (doors 6.30pm)

The Nottingham Shakespeare Company bring you a story of kings and queens, princes and rogues, shepherds, prophecies… and a bear.

Jen Watson, Director of The Winter’s Tale says:

When you mention The Winter’s Tale, most people have only heard, ‘Exit, pursued by a bear.” explains Director, Jen Watson, “but it’s a beautiful story of redemption, love and forgiveness juxtaposed with jealousy, power and grief. The production is immersive, site-specific and atmospheric; not simply a piece of theatre dropped into a beautiful setting. but a performance which actively involves the buildings. Everyone can feel welcome to the church venues, which are so integral to the communities which surround them. A place like Southwell Minster has been a community space since medieval times.

We’re sticking to our stripped back work style, using candlelight and minimal sfx, and performing within and around the audience, bringing the space alive and closing that gap between the player and the audience.
