Year 6 Days 2027:
‘Stepping Up’

At the end of the academic year, and as students are thinking about their big time of transition to their new schools, our year 6 days offer a relaxed ‘away-day’ for staff and students with reflection and activity.

It was lovely to see my lively end-of-year class in the Minster environment so calm and engaged. Such an incredibly uplifting experience for me personally and just what they needed to see them to the end of term. (Year 6 Teacher)

The day is in two parts, beginning and ending with a special time of worship where students share their own memories and reflections.

  • The Minster Trail: Uncover the stories held within the Minster walls, from remarkable individuals who stepped up in difficult circumstances or led inspiring lives, to the building's own journey through centuries of change and the values it seeks to reflect. Supported by our team of volunteers, children explore in small groups, enjoying this special place while discovering its stories independently and at their own pace.
  • Workshops: In 2027, we are once again joined by our friends from other faith communities at the St Philip's Centre, Leicester. Each child will meet representatives of two faiths or worldviews who, by sharing their beliefs and practices, will help pupils understand how faith shapes identity, values, choices and community life, while encouraging understanding, respect and positive relationships across different communities.

£8 per student, accompanying adults free – refreshments for staff.
