Informal Family Fun
Several times a year we organise family fun days and activities – normally in the summer holidays and February Half Term - as well as popping up at the Bramley Festival of food and drink with crafts and trails. Events are often drop in, no booking needed, although sometimes numbers are restricted, and booking will be necessary. It will tell you on our publicity. Events are advertised via our social media platforms, on the website and through posters and flyers in the Minster/ Palace/ Cathedral shop.
If you’re just making a casual visit to the Minster with children in your care, you’ll always find a trail available from our friendly stewards at the welcome desk. Trails change throughout the year, and aim to introduce our youngest visitors to the Minster, by taking them on a walk around, encouraging them to spot and learn as they go.
Forthcoming Family Events
Children and their carers are encouraged to explore the Minster, Palace and gardens together at their leisure, with a range of activities provided, designed to help them to discover the Minster’s stories and fun facts.
“Congratulations on the superb Easter activities in the Minster. I had a wonderful time. I made a prayer bracelet and helped several other children to make one. The children loved the quiz sheet”
Discovery Trails: available from our welcome desk, or ask a friendly steward.
Our themed and seasonal trails guide you on a journey of discovery around the Minster to find its hidden treasures. You can also borrow some binoculars and a torch to help you to explore.
Fun days: Our regular drop-in family fun days offer activities, crafts, games, stories (and more!) on a theme. Recent events have included the Romans, Medieval fun with Robin Hood, a Victorian Christmas or a Lego themed day. See the events notice board below to find out about future Family Fun Days.
You might also like to join us for our family-friendly events and services such as our annual Christingle and crib service near Christmas or the animal blessing service.
