Our beautiful palace gardens are much loved by the local community and visitors from farther afield. The #LeavesofSouthwell project plans to create more public space, new planting, additional interpretation and other surprise elements to be revealed soon. As this is #nationaltreeweek, we invited Holly and Jack, siblings from Lowes Wong Primary School, along with Canon Richard Frith, to give us a helping hand in the glorious winter sunshine to plant the first new plant – a Midland Hawthorn. A lovely native species with pink spring blossom depicted in the stone carvings of the Chapter House.
